Based on calculation and analysis of conventional static correction error in the theoretical model for typical low velocity zone rolling terrain, this paper points out that adopting the conventional static correction method to proceed low velocity zone static correction under the condition of low velocity zone rolling terrain would lead to rather prominent correction error, which is expressed not only in generating spurious phase axis feature phenomenon, but also in causing wrong longitudinal and latitudinal velocity change in reversion velocity. It is also demonstrated in this paper that the low velocity zone static correction error is mainly related to such factors as the shot detector separation, the depth of target strarum, the curvature and form of the bottom boundary and the velocity difference between the low velocity zone and the bodrock.
