Based on an investigation into the paleoplate tectonics of the inner Mon-golian regional transect (from Bayan Obo of Inner Mongolia to Shanghai), itis found that there exists the Gaxun (Geshaotu Temple)allochthonous terraneon the western section of northern margin of the North China plate and alsoon the northern side of Bayan Obo. An integrated regional geological and geo-physical analysis indicates that it came from some other place and has nogenetic connection with its neighboring tectonic units, as is also shown by thedifference in their geologic history. This paper deals with the time and theway this terrane was stuck on other tectonlic units and its geotectonic signi-ficance.
