Abstract:
The marine controlled-source electromagnetic (MCSEM) system has recorded extensive state data, such as depths, attitudes, and GPS information, during sea trials. Investigating its potential problems will serve as a significant reference for subsequent optimization and improvement. Therefore, by leveraging the advantages of Matlab and Python, and with the aid of new techniques, this study analyzed the recently acquired MCSEM data from sea trials, especially the state data. Besides the utilization of the built-in plotting functions of Matlab, the Robotics Toolbox was employed to simulate the three-axis rotation of underwater towed bodies. The full GPS trajectory playback was enabled by custom functions. The advantageous modules of Python facilitated data visualization, 3D attitude simulation of towed bodies, and single-point playback of navigation survey lines. Given the advanced functions of Python, Python-based data playback applications can provide novel insights for the MCSEM monitoring system. Harnessing the respective strengths of multiple programming languages renders data visualization results more intuitive and information retrieval more convenient, providing a new perspective for system upgrade and optimization.
