Application of integrated geophysical exploration in the Xinlong-Langmeila copper-gold ore district, Tibet

Abstract: The Xinlong-Langmeila ore district, located in the middle segment of the central Lhasa Terrane in Tibet, holds considerable potential for mineralization. However, the extension of deep ore bodies and fault zones in the ore district remains poorly understood, posing a challenge to subsequent ore prospecting. This study aims to ascertain the strikes of ore bodies, as well as the distributions of deep faults and concealed deposits. Given that the galena-gersdorffite-gold and pyrite-gold-quartz assemblages predominate in the ore district, this study performed an integrated geophysical exploration by combining induced polarization (IP) central gradient array survey, IP sounding, and audio-frequency magnetotellurics (AMT). In combination with drilling and geological data, this study determined the locations and strikes of ore bodies, delineated IP anomalies and favorable prospecting targets, and identified ore-controlling fault structures. The results of this study demonstrate that integrated geophysical exploration is feasible for gold deposit exploration while also providing a valuable reference for ore prospecting under similar geological conditions. geological conditions.
