    LIU Shi-yi, SUN Wen-ke, SUN Huan-zhen, WU Hai-cheng, ZHOU Jian-xin
    Geophysical and Geochemical Exploration. 2004, 28 (1): 1-9.
    Abstract   HTML   PDF (890KB) ( 1083 )

Based on more than 900 cases carried in volume of geophysical and geochemical exploration, The history of mineral deposits discovery, the authors deal statistically with the effects of geophysical and geochemical exploration in search for various mineral deposits and the ore species for which the ore-prospecting results are prominent. The experience gained and the lessons drawn are tentatively summed up in such aspects of train of thought as the arrangement of geophysical and geochemical work (with the emphasis placed on the search for metallic ore resources), the anomaly interpretation (mainly qualitative interpretation) and anomaly inspection.

THE APPLICATION OF TEM TO GROUNDWATER EXPLORATION IN GANSU PROVINCE
    JIANG Wen, HU Wen-xian
    Geophysical and Geochemical Exploration. 2004, 28 (1): 32-34.
    Abstract   HTML   PDF (179KB) ( 732 )

In some areas of Gansu province, the common geophysical methods for groundwater exploration seem to be ineffective in classifying the structures of strata, locating the positions of faults, finding out the shape of bedrock surface and estimating the distribution of groundwater. Using TEM exploration combined with an analysis of borehole data, the authors made some breakthrough in solving the above-mentioned hydrogeological problems. The results prove the effectiveness of this method in ground water exploration.

THE APPLICATION OF ACTIVE CARBON TO DETERMINING RADON-ADSORPTION SATURATION INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE HOUSE
    YUE Ren-chang, WU Yun-ping, JIA Wen-yi
    Geophysical and Geochemical Exploration. 2004, 28 (1): 39-40,45.
    Abstract   HTML   PDF (174KB) ( 822 )

With a set of apparatuses designed by the authors, we can detect the relationship between the radioactive counting of radonadsorbing active carbon and the radon concentration of the environment in which the active carbon exists. The total counts of radon in active carbon orγrays released from its decay daughter are in linear relationship with the radon concentration. After correction, the total counts of γrays can be converted into radon concentration in the environment.

DISPERSION CURVES OF RAYLEIGH WAVE IN THREE-LAYER MEDIA
    YANG Tian-chun, HE Ji-shan, LU Shao-lin, WANG Qi-ren, YAO Cheng-hua
    Geophysical and Geochemical Exploration. 2004, 28 (1): 41-45.
    Abstract   HTML   PDF (604KB) ( 1186 )

The authors carried out forward modeling on dispersion curves of Rayleigh wave in three-layer media and then analyzed characteristics of dispersion curves. It is proved that the dispersion curves never intersect with each other, thus correcting the false opinions held by some scholars. When a low-velocity layer exists, the fundamental guided curve will become complex, some guided waves will assume intersection trend, and some guided waves show phenomenon of truncation in certain conditions. According to the analyzing results, the forming mechanism of the zigzag dispersion curves has also been explained.

THE DEPTH SENSITIVITY OF D.C. RESISTIVITY SOUNDING ON SHALLOW INVISTIGATION
    ZHONG Shi-hang
    Geophysical and Geochemical Exploration. 2004, 28 (1): 46-48,52.
    Abstract   HTML   PDF (318KB) ( 670 )

The author has researched the relation between AB/2 and h of resistivity sounding on shallow investigation by means of contacting between measuring curves on objects and boreholes. The measuring curves on objects assume brokenline form, because their distance of the electrodes should be arranged by regular intermission when measuring on field. The AB/2 of turing points reflecting lower stratum is equal to h, depth of stratum.

    Geophysical and Geochemical Exploration. 2004, 28 (1): 53-56,61.
    Abstract   HTML   PDF (250KB) ( 446 )

The magnetotelluric responses of vertical dykes have been theoretically deduced. First, their analytical expressions of apparent resistivity within the high resistance basement and the low resistance basement were deduced under E-polarization and H-polarization respectively. Then through programming and calculating, lots of graphs were drawn. Finally, careful analysis of these graphs led to the summarization of many characteristics of apparent resistivity curves for magnetotelluric responses of dykes.

WU Wei, ZHANG Xian-min, YANG Jin, CAO Jin-feng
    Geophysical and Geochemical Exploration. 2004, 28 (1): 88-91.
    Abstract   HTML   PDF (227KB) ( 661 )

The method for determining the load bearing capacity of pile is summarized and the basic principle of the transient surface wave test technique is described in this paper. The application of this technique to estimating the bearing capacity of pile, in particular, is presented with a practical example. The standard penetration test blow count (N63.5) related to the shear wave velocity could be used to estimate the bearing capacity of pile. The correlation model of Vs with qsik and qpk was constructed through N63.5. The transient surface wave could be used to test the shear wave velocity of soil around the pile and estimate the bearing capacity of pile.

A NEW LINEAR TECHNOLOGY FOR MONITORING PILE STRAIN
    LIAO Yong-chu
    Geophysical and Geochemical Exploration. 2004, 28 (1): 92-94.
    Abstract   HTML   PDF (192KB) ( 848 )

With the rapid economic development of China, the pile foundation method has been widely employed thanks to its unique merits. To guarantee the accuracy of the designing parameters, it is very important to analyze and investigate the distribution state of strain and stress. This paper deals mainly with the principle and procedures of the sliding micrometric linear technology for monitoring strain (internal force) of the pile body. A practical engineering example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the linear technology for monitoring strain in static load pile test.
