The methahe stable carbon isotopes can perform the tracing function andthus contribute to determining the genesis of the geochemical oil-gas anomalyand raising the confidence degree of geochemical data. The present paperinvestigates the methane stable carbon isotopes in hydrocarbon absorbed bysoil, dissolved in water and absorbed by rock core and debris respectively. Theresults indicate that the δ13C1, has some limitations and requires further studywhile applied to soil-absorbed hydrocarbon, but shows relatively apparenteffects while applied to hydrocarbon dissolved in water, and helps not only tothe comparison of oil-gas source rocks, but also to the interpretation of geo-chemical oil-gas prospecting while applied to hydrocarbon absorbed by rockcore and debris.
