Abstract:This paper deals with the effect of applying the metallic factor to the interpretation of IP anomalies in an ore district of Fuyan County, Xinjiang. Induced polarization method of geophysical electrical survey was employed to select electricity unusual areas, with the purpose of identifying the IP anomalies in the work area. The authors used the method of apparent metallic factor (Js) by extracting IP secondary information to make prominent the low resistivity polarization anomalies and suppress the high resistivity polarization anomalies, thus strengthening the ore-related anomaly, suppressing the interference of barren anomalies, and successfully distinguishing ore-related anomalies from barren anomalies. Through calculating the dependency on the apparent metallic factors, the authors delineated the key exploration areas, and arranged IP sounding profiles in key exploration areas, thus guiding the drilling work. The drilling results has proved the effectiveness of the IP method in the exploration work of this area.
